Consider the situations of several UA students. On top of full-time coursework, many students work over 30 hours a week in various roles on and off campus. Since many of them are unable to make enough to cover basic needs like food and shelter, we have members of our community who we have found living in their cars. Overall living accommodations and demanding work schedules often impact the grades of students navigating challenging life situations. Other out of state students are challenged with getting home for family emergencies and others whose family members have lost their jobs in the midst of supporting their student through college while also battling chronic ailments. These scenarios only serve as a few examples of many of the challenges faced by our students.
By giving to the Tide Together Student Support Fund, you are supporting UA students through their most difficult times. With your support, students can find stable living accommodations and focus more on academics. Students can be with their families during life-changing events. And students can stay on campus and make it to graduation. Tide Together is an emergency fund that can be utilized to purchase food, hygiene items, lodging, transportation, gift cards, gas, or other essential items to support students through difficult times. The Division of Student Life seeks to maximize each University of Alabama student’s learning experience.
