Our HES Bama Blitz passion project sets out to raise support for students within the College of Human Environmental Sciences who are completing required or recommended internship opportunities. Did you know, that in 2018 HES students completed over 150,000 hours in either internship or practicum experiences across the country? Experiential learning opportunities like internships and practicums are woven throughout all of our majors in the College of HES. It’s why our students leave the institution prepared for their careers, with not only the knowledge, but the hands on experiences they acquired in these placements.
Funding for an HES Experiential Learning Support program will help to provide financial assistance to students in low-paying or volunteer internships. This funding can be used to offset various expenses that students encumber while participating in these learning experiences. Examples include research projects, transportation and alternative living expenses away from campus.
Our goal is to raise enough funds to permanently endow what is given so that current and future HES students can benefit from this initiative for years to come.
We want every student who graduates from the College of Human Environmental Sciences to be equipped with the knowledge, opportunities, and skills to be leaders in their respective fields. Supporting the creation of an Experiential Learning Support program in the College of HES is a gift to current and future generations of HES students to take part in these opportunities in our College.
