College of Communication & Information Sciences
The College of Communication and Information Sciences fosters a welcoming and supportive community. However, sometimes the support needed by first generations students can look a bit different. Many first generation students aren’t even aware of the support and resources available to them, but C&IS aims to change that. We understand the uncertainty that many first generation students experience during their college years, and we want to support them every step of the way to graduation. The C&IS First Generation Fund will provide financial resources to help students who are experiencing an emergency, who wish to participate in a variety of experiential learning opportunities or who are seeking scholarship funds. We want every student to succeed during their time in C&IS, and your support will help fulfill a need for first generation students that can make a world of difference.
Here's how your gift can help…
A donation ranging from $5-$50 can assist a C&IS First Gen Student in covering costs for memberships to the Capstone Communication Student Society and other student organizations, and application fees for experiential learning opportunities, film festivals and graduate applications.
With gifts ranging from $50-$150, C&IS First Gen Students will gain assistance with fees and purchasing textbooks or additional course materials. These gifts will also help students cover the cost of membership dues to allow them the opportunity to join professional organizations.
Gifts ranging from $150-$300 can help C&IS First Gen Students gain experience through assistance with small tuition and fees balance relief that may otherwise prevent them from registering for classes.
Finally, gifts ranging from $300-$500 will give C&IS First Gen Students financial assistance to explore careers in advertising, journalism, film and other communication fields through Industry Immersion trips, study abroad experiences, conferences, student film funding and other hands-on experiences that can enhance their professional portfolio.
