The alumni association for the College of Engineering, called the Capstone Engineering Society, supports growth, fosters relationships, encourages philanthropy, invests in students and engages alumni through fundraising, events and networking. Contributions made to this annual fund provide crucial discretionary funding for priority needs within the College.
- There is currently over $2 million dollars in Capstone Engineering Society Endowed Scholarship fund. During the 2020-2021 academic year, 41 students were awarded $101,250 in scholarships.
- Mentor UPP provided professional and peer mentors to nearly 200 undergraduate students in 2020-2021.
- The Ambassadors for the College of Engineering, or ACEs, receive stipends from CES and provide tours to prospective students, families and alumni while promoting professionalism and enthusiasm for the College.
- Networking receptions, alumni panels and industry related events are held throughout the year and hosted by CES.
- The annual fund provides need-based assistance for student organizations and competition teams and removes barriers of entry for participation and involvement.
Engineers are the foundation of Alabama’s economy. UA’s College of Engineering is committed to educating tomorrow’s engineers and computer scientists who will continue leading our state in the construction, automotive and high-tech industries. Generations of future engineers and the growing economy in Alabama are greatly affected by these philanthropic contributions.
