The Social Work Field Program is a vital part of our students’ education. It provides hands on, practical experience in the field that prepares them for job success. Our current field placements develop and sustain hundreds of partnerships across the State, from the heart of the Black Belt to the Tennessee Valley. Participating students are fulfilling their required placements and also providing essential support and outreach to our partners through service-learning field placements. Our agency partners provide students learning opportunities in key social service sectors, including hospice, substance use counseling, and foster care.
Our BSW students are required to complete 450 hours in field, while our MSW students are required to complete 500 hours. Our students regularly travel long-distances at their own expense. Round-trip commutes can average 25 miles, but sometimes reach or exceed 120 miles. The cost of travel and other related out-of-pocket expenses can present a barrier to success and a source of significant financial anxiety.
To address this need and allow our students’ the opportunity to flourish across the state, we want to raise $7,500. This would provide $500 to support 15 students. By supporting this fundraising effort, 100% of your gift will support a current Social Work student participating in our field program.
Thank you for your consideration and generous support for Social Work field students working to achieve their academic aspirations.
