The Graduate School plays a key role in organizing events, symposia, and professional development for both UA’s graduate faculty and its graduate students. In addition, we often can provide matching funds to departments that offer such programming. This year, UA’s graduate enrollments reached a record high, challenging us to offer increased support to meet our changing population’s needs.
With the support of Bama Blitz donations, we intend to strengthen our focus on the faculty who directly mentor our graduate students. Through events that create strong professional networks, we aspire to create forums that allow for the sharing of best practices in graduate student success. Topics include addressing imposter syndrome, sustaining timely progress toward degree completion, addressing the needs of diverse and first-generation graduate students, and recruiting students with the highest probability of success. Bama Blitz funds will also allow us to strengthen and sustain an expert professional staff to support the needs of our academic programs.
