The University of Alabama’s Tikkun Olam Makers student chapter is part of “a global movement of communities creating and disseminating affordable solutions to neglected challenges of people living with disabilities, the elderly and vulnerable populations” in the state of Alabama and beyond.
The group is currently engineering a collapsible wheelchair designed to fit in overhead airplane compartments for a client who enjoys independent travel. They have completed CAD models but lack the necessary tools and equipment to build the chair. Like those they serve, the group remains steadfast in the face of adversity and determined to raise the funds to bring this design to life. By supporting TOM, you become part of every solution our students create. Join us during Bama Blitz 2026 as we make Alabama a more accessible place by helping turn ideas into independence.
UPDATE: Thank you to all of the donors who have helped UA's Chapter of Tikkun Olam Makers unlock the matching gift from Mark and Margaret McColl. The chapter still has a larger goal, so we hope that you we still continue to support the amazing work our students are doing!
